Your camera stays yours.

LearnFit estimates changes in focus during a screen-based study task by comparing eye openness and blinking with a personal baseline. Camera processing stays on your device. LearnFit counts starts, completions, and combined study time without storing an identifier; detailed research data is collected only after a clear choice.

Effective September 25, 2026

This policy covers the LearnFit website, LearnFit Task Focus Chrome extension, and optional real-user evaluation.

What stays on your device

Camera frames, facial landmark coordinates, blink timing, eye-openness measurements, task text, saved reflections, page addresses, page titles, browsing history, and website content are never sent to LearnFit. Camera frames and landmarks are processed in memory and discarded as the session runs.

What is stored locally

The extension stores lightweight session state using chrome.storage.local, including the current score, verified study time, off-task time, no-signal time, calibration progress, chosen study pages, and suggested check-in. The website stores reflections only when you choose Save. A random browser ID and your research preference may also be stored locally. No account is required.

Basic usage totals

When a session starts or finishes, LearnFit adds one to a daily total for the website or extension. On completion, the website adds its visible session length and the extension adds only verified study-page time to the combined daily study-time total. The database stores only the day, product source, event type, count, and combined seconds. It does not store a browser ID, session ID, score, survey answer, task, reflection, camera measurement, browsing history, or a duration row for an individual session. Network providers, including Cloudflare, necessarily process technical connection data to deliver the service, but LearnFit does not place it in the research database.

Optional detailed research

If you opt in before a website session, LearnFit also sends a random browser ID, random session ID, product version, session length, and final focus estimate. If you submit the two-minute survey, it also sends verified study time, off-task time, tracking coverage, your 1–5 ratings including self-reported task focus, the share of time you stayed on task, whether you would use LearnFit again, and any optional written answers. The extension opens the same survey after you end a session; detailed session information is submitted only when you consent and choose Send.

Please do not enter your name, email, school, or other identifying details in written answers. LearnFit does not intentionally collect them. Research data is used to evaluate and improve this student project and document real-user testing. It is not sold or used for advertising, and there are no third-party analytics trackers.

Retention and access

Anonymous research records are retained indefinitely for project evaluation and do not expire automatically. The research dashboard is protected by a private administrator key and displays anonymous totals and responses.

Why the extension asks for permissions

Your controls

You can add a page to the current study session, pause, or end a session at any time. Ending releases the camera. You can skip the research survey. Removing the extension deletes its local extension data; website reflections can be deleted from the LearnFit home screen.

Limited use

LearnFit’s use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only for the user-facing feature and the optional research purpose described here.
